Julia Macalaster

Julia is a fashion and technology professional who has worked in strategy consulting, e-commerce and mobile solutions.  Driven by a passion for new and entrepreneurial opportunities, Julia first entered the e-commerce industry as the founder of her company, Winship LLC (a men’s underwear brand) in 2012, and later with Mack Weldon (www.mackweldon.com), an e-commerce men's basics company based out of New York.  Julia's experience in mobile solutions began during her time as a management consultant with Booz Digital. There she worked with one of the largest public companies in the US developing and implementing their mobile payment and loyalty solutions strategy. From there Julia further developed her experience with mobile technologies at MicroStrategy, where she worked with top retail brands to find mobile solutions and strategies.  Julia is passionate about always driving to find the solution to every problem.

Ameet Kallarackal

Lead Researcher at Campus Insights

Ameet is the Lead Researcher and a UI/UX Tester for Campus Insights. He comes from a diverse background and has always immersed himself in different perspectives, seeing technology as a beautiful mediator that unites and empowers communities. Ameet loves creative, efficient problem solving as well as trying to understand how people interact with one another and with technology. At Campus Insights, his goal is to help college students and startups connect in a mutually beneficial way. Ameet was born and brought up in the South before moving to Boston, and in his spare time he can be found playing soccer or debating topics in metaphysics.

Riley Soward

Riley is a co-founder of Campus Insights, a startup that conducts UI / UX testing and marketing research on college campuses. A Bay Area native, Riley has always been immersed in and fascinated by startups. At Campus Insights, he is able to fulfill his passion for helping companies improve their apps / websites through projects with clients such as Venmo, PingPad, and Rocki. In his free time, Riley likes to paint abstract paintings while listening to John Mayer. In 2015, Riley was named by BostInno.com as one of Boston's top “25 Founders Who Are 25 and Under.”

Stephen Soward 

Co-Founder Campus Insights 

Stephen is a co-founder of Campus Insights, a startup that conducts UI / UX testing and marketing research on college campuses. He has always enjoyed bouncing ideas back and forth off others and is always pitching startup ideas – some more realistic than others – to friends. Stephen co-founded Campus Insights in order to build off his passion for helping start ups increase their engagement with users. Before Campus Insights, he had worked with numerous start ups including Pymetrics, Chat Sports, DinnDinn, and StartupAisle. Outside of the realm of entrepreneurship, Stephen can be found working with kids at a local transitional shelter or bleeding maize and blue at a Michigan football game. He is always happy to connect and can be reached at stephen@campus-insights.com.

This week you will get hands on experience performing a usability test.  Select 5 of your friends and perform the following usability test with them; 

Context - “Imagine your friend just messaged you saying they just came across a fashion site that you should check out.”

Task #1 - “Your visit task is to visit Preeline.com and create an account.”

Questions once they complete Task #1 - “What did you think of the questions during the account creation process? Which ones were you comfortable with, and which ones were you not comfortable with?”

Task #2 - "Select your favorite item and PreeLine it" 

Questions once they complete Task #2 - Note what path they took to PreeLine the item.  "To you, what does a PreeLine mean?"
